Final Mission for Snake?

The real reason I bought a Playstation arrives today: Metal Gear Solid 4. Snake's finally here and every review I've read states this game is awesome in just about every conceivable way. I've been waiting on this one.

Just got back from a quick trip to Japan (if that's possible) to meet my in-laws and Snake was everywhere - Akihabara (no surprise there), Shibuya, you name it. This photo is from Shibuya.

wow! We've got a pretty far flung crew... Marty in Italy and Surly in Japan! We're the Jet-Set crowd!

I guess i'll have to buy a PS3. I've held out. No X Box, no upgrades beyond ps2. Sounds like a good trip Ronnie

A little update: A group of guys here at the studio in Seattle played a bit of it at lunch and the cinematic quality of the game seems to not be as appreciated in some circles (a nice way for saying they hated the long, un-interactive opening with a venomous passion). Or maybe they are just jaded. Or maybe it's just cool to rip on stuff (geek-vogue, I guess). I can't tell. The very thing that I love about Metal Gear seems to be the very thing they hate. I had to leave the little gathering as they were ruining it for me.

I can say this, MGS4 looks incredible. No production stone has been left unturned. I ordered the collector's edition because I wanted the "making of" DVD that will hopefully show all the behind-the-scenes things.

I wanted to get a PS3 but got really angry when I found out they aren't backwards compatible (except for the 1st generation ones). CRAZY. Silent Hill 5 will make me give in faster than you can say .... "!"

I haven't played Metal Gear Solid in a zillion years. The gags were the best part for me personally. The security officer who was gonna shit his pants, the "it's just a box" guy, and the HIDEO screen.... ahh, memories.

Kali,Don't quote me on this, but I believe the newer PS3s are backwards-compatible with PS1 and PS2 games, but the compatibility is done through the system software now rather than having the Emotion Engine chips built into the hardware. Supposedly, this is actually better because the firmware can be upgraded for better performance, adding new games, etc. Mainly, though, it was a way to cut production costs. I don't know if the software compatibility is any good, though. I actually ponied-up and got the first-gen PS3 because I wanted the hardware compatibility.

Krayonzilla, don't hate me because I'm beautiful. ;) It was too short of a trip. I hated to leave.

All this unecessary talk about the silly Metal Gear game when my company's game THE BOURNE CONSPIRACY came out on June 3rd. I did many storyboards and a wee bit of game design as well. I basically get to direct cut scenes within the game. Take that Ellis' Zorro epic!

It's always good to ship a game . congrats. Don't give up the acting though. Follow your bliss as someone new agey once said.
