New Avis newsletter contribution - Pencil Jack- MsValkyrie

Had a lot of cars damaged by hail last week.
Little circles in yellow washable pen ink all over the car bodies. In some cases cracked mirrors and windshields.
So I did a drawing with no caption.
Decided 'screw funny' and blew off trying for a caption- and made it a process tutorial.
How I got to this image.
Have you guys heard of Pencil Jack Pummels?
You agree to do a piece based on the same character.
This is Kaimen Rider.
I'll do a link to the contest eventually.
Stick a rubber ball in my mouth.
MsValkyrie  is getting traction on facebook.
So much so, that my patron is rethinking some of what had been his main IP promo notions.

Thanks Marty. I may be cribbing color from your art soon. He wants me to color the project as well. I've warned him.

Elz, are you sure you want to delve into color...? If you DO, might I suggest a master color doc, something with a finite palette pre-selected? Then just eye-drop n' dab? Fer instance, you do you costume colors in both light and shadow, flesh tones, and a set of cool and warm background colors. Make a tonal map for all your panels, then start assigning the colors into a MULTIPLY layer above the tonal layer and you should have something resembling a Dave Stewart Hellboy page...?Maybe instead of all colors on the MULTIPLY layer, you make one MULTIPLY and one OVERLAY or SOFT LIGHT or LIGHTEN? For the bright colors? And finally have an extra line layer that you smack over the top of it all...?

Just thinking out loud...but you can definitely have one (or all) of us help get yr initial palette set-up...think of it lke a color model sheet.

That's kind of what i plan Marty. Getting a color sample I steal everything from. And simple to the point of being Harvey comic simple.

Or Hellboy . That's pretty simple. I think i will crib Hellboy. That is the best coloring.
