I Know It's Bad

But I'm going to try and sell it anyway.

Oil painting is hard. I haven't done one in 7 or 8 years.
The act of copying made it into a kind of paint by the numbers approach that further stunted it.
From now on, simple, clean, strong pre planned paintings.
But I'll probably concentrate on pencil drawings for the ebay market right now.

We never use the word "bad" when talking about Ellis art. But I would love to see some original paintings from you. I want to see you establish yourself as a fantasy painter in your own right - the next Jeffrey Jones.

Thanks Tom. That should be the ambition shouldn't it.

Well within your reach. Once you start producing regularly you can get yourself an agent and start doing book covers, posters and commissioned paintings. I'm convinced that you have your own unique voice to express within the genre. You don't have to bother looking at Frazetta or Kirby. They might even be holding you back from your true artistic identity.

Thanks Tom. You're right. I could be doing stuff that doesn't need derivation at this point. Had a few good sales on Ebay of stuff that was all me.

This is so hilarious. You and your magma reds...I think you made him look more terrifying, more present...excellent stuff.

The original image is strange with that ghost hand in his chest where his pec should be.

Hope it sells for big $$!!
