Ah HA!

OK, I think I've finally figured this damnable thing out. I wasn't getting the picture icon from wherever the hell I was creating a post, but now I think I've found the right place.
Here goes... Once again my attempt to show you a recent drawing for the "Pirates of Venus" project.

Screw all of you.

Scott, I dig the composition and the creature. You always have a great eye for staging. But your Carson of Venus character is an uncharacteristicly medium ok element. I'd trace up where the monster goes on some vellum or something and completely re-attack the figure. Just because you're so good at the kind of figure that ought to be in this picture. The head is too big, the torn shirt is too busy, and the pose looks like he limped over to the spider to stab it. I've been so brutal here I don't have the heart to tell you to screw yourself.

Actually, I think it's mostly a "I drew the lower carriage too small" type of thing. Carson Napier in the book is definitely not your archtype hero, he's actually kind of a mediocre build. So I was drawing his torso smaller. Then I tackled the legs a little weakly.

It's funny, as I was telling somebody just yesterday, this drawing was designed completely ass-backwards compared to how I usually do it. I started out just wanting to draw the figure. After several instances of screwing up his arms I finally found one version to stick with, THEN I drew the lower legs, THEN I decided to add the the spider, THEN the background. If I was doing it the right way I would have probably designed a very different look. One further back showing the whole spider as well as a more dramatic setting (kind of like a Mark Schultz thing).

So I believe you are on the money with your comments, except for the shirt. I don't mind the shirt. In fact I think it was one of the top 10 shirts ever drawn in the history of art. But since your other comments ring true it has shamed me into inactivity. Never again shall I raise a pencil to paper, lest my own freakish character design fail to impress. Damn you Ellis Goodson... damn you.

Oh, and go screw yourself.

I didn't say I was unimpressed. The spider design was so cool and horrific that I had an atavistic reaction, jumping back from the screen just as neanderthal would have, finding myself with no verbal skill, just excited grunting. Then my eye made it over to the Carson character and I gradually climbed back out of my primal regression with a kind of , goo, goo, look at funny man, kind of infantilism. Now I'm back to being 10 times smarter than you. Able to do really good critiques.

Sorry I didn't call you back cuz i was on my way back from Yosemite. But now I am here and can devote my FULL attention to you. So basically I concur with mr. goodson's assessment of you post. Big head, lackluster pose etc. Fix it or never show your buncakes here again!!! So what is the deal with this vis dev piece???

What in the hell is a "vis dev piece" I don't live in Compton like you do so I'm not hip to your hip-hop jive, homey.

By the way, I did the picture that way on purpose. Big head, small legs, jaunty pose. If there was a slight problem within the piece it would send your brains into an official "tizzy" which means I'm a brilliant artist rather than a dumbshit who threw together a piece without really making a proper effort.

That's what I meant to do... I'm sure of it.
