It's official, Sayonara San Diego

Well it's official. After 17 years (23 total) I'm leaving San Diego. My Father had a fall and broke his hip. He's in bad shape, My Mother's Alzheimers is progressing quickly. My job options are at ZERO. I can no longer in good conscience stay here. Technically broke I have to go and help my family while there is still time. I have no idea what the future holds. This is a BIG unknown for me. Moving day is July 18, 2014.....very worried, very sad....lots of packing

You're in dire straits Jim. I hope the family pulls through in a bit. Gets on their feet as you get on yours. I know about that mind loss. My Mom may not strictly have alhzeiners but it is difficult to have patience with her. Patience is what you'll have to find.

Patience with the whole screwed up situation. Don't be me, spending the entire first year back being pissed off at the new, terrible place you're in.

At least you aren't in Oklahoma. That's my upbeat note for you.

Sorry to hear the last job possibility didn't work out Jim. Best to you and your family. Hopefully, in spite of your new situation, you will still be able to stay in touch with all of us and continue to practice your art.

Ellis, Sacramento IS Oklahoma "West" so NOT so upbeat. It's going to be hard not to be pissed off. I'm already pissed off about a great many things at this point. Feels like I'm falling down into a black hole with no hope.

My area of Oklahoma City is probably more like Sttockton than Sacramento. So that's my new upbeat note. You aren't in Stockton.

Maurie is moving to Stockton. LOL

I had a job interview in Stockton during one of my layoffs a few years back. My wife came along. When things are bad we say, "at least it's not Stockton."
Jim, down but not out.

I know it's hard to maintain a positive attitude, but this move has some potential to be a good move for you... a totally new job market, new people to meet... a fresh start. I've had to move a few times and sometimes it's kinda nice to not share a bunch of history with the people around you. It's an opportunity to reinvent yourself. I'm not trying to just expound platitudes... I'm totally serious. Also, you should feel good about helping out your family. that's an admirable quality.

Well that's all I'm going for. Family, maybe some personal closure. A job is not a priority at this point. My parents care is. I will have time to work on my own stuff without the JOB hassles and scratching out stress to make the rent. I'll throw out my name over there but I am skeptical of that market. Time will tell.

Good luck, sir! I think you are due for some!

I'm awake at 4 AM now because of police activity. Couple of black dudes cut through our yard to elude capture. Could have easily bust into the house and used our place like a fort.

Cops acted like it was certainly possible they were in the house.

We're all moving to Stockton in this America. Most of us don't have to pack our bags.

Used at least 10k in helicopter fuel looking for the "kids." Good chance that my brother knows one of them. They know the area of course. We're probably on their list for easy B and Es.

Learned our dog we were depending on as our fierce backyard defender is worthless. Petrified inside its house. Which is good because cops will shoot a civilian dog.

Each person with a strong tendency to steal and rob is not an individual, he's a crime wave.

Just discovered the dog is gone. Cops have let it out. No telling where it will end up and if it will ever come back.

The dog came back. Things are normal for now.

My gun is loaded, I'm ready for the next level of home invasion.
