PS brushes

So, I've been struggling with Manga Studio to do some nitpicky things and it's not good at those things.  I'm considering going back to Photoshop to ink and letter my comic.  However, I'm not happy with the inking brushes that I have collected so far (which is what pushed me to MS in the first place).  I'm looking for a brush that truly simulates an ink brush sort of line, one that tapers to a point on both ends.  I've heard of talk of such a beast, but I haven't encountered it myself as of yet.  If someone has used a PS brush like this, please point me in the right direction.  Thanks!

Did you buy the Frenden brushes for Manga Stusio.

That felt like a windsor newton brush to me.

He has also been getting raves for his photoshop brushes.

Anyone else having trouble posting?

This mac mini and the OSX that it allows me as an update may be keeping me out of blogspot for new posts.

I don't even know what Manga Studio is...or a brush.

(I kid...sorta.)

Manga Studio is a comic creation tool. I picked it up cheap during a special sale, but it's not the latest and greatest version. I'm a cheap jerk, so I'm not willing to invest in the full version just yet. I will check out these brushes and perhaps they will solve my problem. Of course I'm much more comfortable in PS, so I'd prefer to make my comic there.
Marty, what dimensions are you using for a single comic page?

Oh bummer... these brushes are only compatible with CS5 and 6. My home system is still using 3 (like I said, I'm a cheap jerk).

Well, it was a cool idea anyway. Maybe I can tinker with the settings in PS and get what I'm looking for.

Ranjo had a bunch of PS brush pre-sets that came from within Disney. Drop him a line. He can send an attachment.

I'll do that. I've spent a pretty frustrating evening trying to find something that works well without much luck.

Okay, I picked up Manga Studio 5 and the Frenden brushes... I haven't had too much time to play with them tonight, but OMG are they awesome! I think with a little practice I will be pretty happy with this set up. Now, if Manga Studio 5 will set up word balloons like I want it to...Walt Simonson/john workman style where the balloons break the panel borders and opens up the page, I'll be a pretty happy camper indeed.
