I start at AVIS tomorrow morning

I'll let you know how my carshuttling job goes.
This is a sample I've been invited to do for Marvel Comics.
Since they'll not see it as pencils on paper, I'll do some revision in photoshop that it needs.
Like that Gun needing to be lowered into the panel a bit.
Needs some cursory backgrounds.
You may remember the other partial page. I'll try and finish that by Tuesday.

By "invited by Marvel Comics to do a sample", I hope you mean "hired by Marvel comics to do a sample". They are interested in you doing the complete comic? And these are
a couple of tryout pages?

At any rate, it's looking really good Ellis.

It's a sample. An editor showed my work around and it's got some buzz. I may be killing it. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks Ronnie.

Walked onto the AVIS lot and came back home.
My drug test paperwork wasn't in the loop yet.
They'll call today or tomorrow I was told.
It was actually a nice walk through.
I was way over dressed for it.
Got to dress for survival.
What I wear around the house.
Less dressy than your UPS driver.

Ellis, glad AVIS seems to have gone okay for you. When I first saw your post, the formatting you did makes it look like you were writing a sonnet of your interview experience.

Hey, I just discovered where you got those animated super-hero gif's. I've never seen Kerry Callen's work before. I love his Super Antics cartoons and other satirical comic work.

The best time waster I have ever been given. Great stuff!

I love the Batcave Dinosaur one and the Dishwasher Flash one!

My copy of RetroEllis was waiting for me upon my return to work today. I didn't realize that I had some work in there, too! I remembered one of the pieces but totally forgot about the other. It was fun to see them again, as well as all the other great stuff in the book. Super-fun collection, sir!

Glad you got that and enjoyed the balst from the past. Thanks for buying and thanks for all the Bounty of Zone Z work you did back then. At least two spot illos and all the color that got done for covers.

The main joke, and it has no timing to make it a joke, all the bold faced part of the Balloon comes from Saturn Girl.
SUPERBOY
SUPER HERO CLUB!
TOO ORDINARY!

It was fun to do. I just remembered the easy way to do gifs in imageready. I made it 5 times harder than it needed to be.

Hey, did Avis call?

Start tomorrow at 9 am. It was a good walk through Monday. Learned I was way over dressed. I need a farmer straw cowboy hat. Gotta get something that keeps the sun off my neck.
Just have ball caps and cabbie caps. No foreign legion type of caps.

EL! Congrats on the job!!

This comics stuff is looking good. Trust your Ellis-ness--those pencils are so sweet, I want to see as much of them come thru as possible!

I'm gonna look more closely tonight. Awesome.

The AVIS job is just fine. Very easy work and interesting to the extent that you're always popping into a new and different vehicle. Rolling out, taking it to the same garage 2 blocks away, circling back about like going round a football field with a turned in "dirty" car that needs prep. I don't do prep. I'm plenty busy just moving cars.
Everyone is very easy going, lots of older guys just staying busy.
I'll work Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays. Usually 8 hours is the goal. Might stretch if I'm needed beyond that.
I expected some sort of diabolical living hell. So it being easy and just a smidge of fun has me feeling good.
