Cork 65

Okay, here's the last new one until I make more.

Doing some research in bookstores I realize if I'm going to make a book of collected Cork strips I'm going to need a lot more pages, so it might take awhile until I have enough content to make a substansive book.  I currently have 65 strips, plus about an estimated 10 pages of filler which will leave me with about 75 pages.  I noticed with other books on the shelves I'll need at least 85-100 pages worth of material to make it comparable to other books on the market.  I don't want to just have a thin book that would seem unworthy of a bigger purchase price.  Plus it would just feel insignificant and without the heft of a real collection otherwise.  So I have a lot of work to do.  Don't know if I'll have it ready by the SD Con... but we'll see.

That's exactly what a fox would do. Love the chaos panel.

As far as filler goes. You could write a Cork story or two with a couple of plash gags. Shake of the format dropping those into the mix. You probably have some things that would make stories vs gag strips.

You could write an illustrated introduction.

But not to dissuade you from a lot more Cork. You can't go wrong with a lot more Cork strips.

Never mind. I guess 10 pages of filler out to be max. You've got that covered.

Not bad ideas though. Something to think about.

Full color?

My favorite Larson book is the Pre-History of The Far Side book. It's the only one I still own.

It has lots of essays and anecdotes about Larson, his process. Very autobiographical.

You could have a feature on your gag-writing impulse. The way you send penciled pages in with a gag on every page.

Otherwise known as a "gag reflex".

Gag reflex! I like it.

Yes Tom, all color.

I think I just need to have more strips for now. I don't want it to be a quick read, so I needs more funnies, methinks, at least.

I want one.

Me too! I like that you want it to be a substantive tome, Scott. A lot of strips and books are too skimpy with the content. I get why, but nothing beats a nice book that takes a few dedicated sessions to fully digest.

I want one, too, Scotty.
