Doing some Boards

Boards

Digging the work. It's a horror script. Director got to me through Ed Schofield. He's done some award winning stuff. I'll get a nice fat juicy credit as storyboard artist. And a little money. Maybe almost minimum wage when all is said and done. Of course, I have to finish this before I get back to WAIT. But this supercharges me with ideas for how I want to do the comic book. It's too late now, but I'm going with more of a Darwyn Cooke minimalism going forward.

All good work; I like the "cinematic" angle on the character in the last panel (w/moon in bg) best.

Thanks Tom. I tried to take careful notes from the director and give him the shots he wants. The script is all there on that blog as well. The rule in a script being, get it read by anyone, everywhere vs hush hush NDA game thinking.

Ben, if you give me your email address I can give you posting privileges. It used to be totally open but we had a troll show up once and we've kept it closed ever since. I wonder if we shouldn't open it up again? What do you folks think?

Thanks Rick.
I wouldn't really consider myself an artist, more of a student trying to get better at art.
I'm not entirely sure what I'd post.

Well, right now even your comments need to get approved, so if we make you an admin you can post when you like without being moderated. :)

El, these are looking way cool. So glad you're fired up, ready to go!!

Fired up is right. This has given me a bit of thinking that should be obvious. But clicked for me as I worked my way into the script for this film.

1. Do the painful , writing, re-writing and re-writing of the script first. Get notes, be satisfied that it's tasty, clear storytelling with some satisfaction and a hook to draw you through wanting more.

2. Then play auteur with it on your shot count. If you go to page 10 of the board page you see the super minimal chickenscratchs I do to orient myself for the clearer drawing to come. Work all through the script like that. Have a script page PSD file. Do the shots with layer comps.

3. Publish a blog instead of a comic book. Sell spec script.

4. Do an animatic if the pirit moves you.
