Mascots

I've started a new series of drawings on my way to and from work... Product Mascots: Where are they now? I think this one speaks for itself...

I especially love the crossed band-aids on the head! They were always putting those on the characters in Mad. Might have been a Wally Wood or Jack Davis thing. Makes the character seem so grubby.

Nice!
Reminds me of the has-been/senior superhero series of drawings.

Nice! Should we take up a collection for him? ... ;-)

Probably Jack Davis bandaids Tom.

Not a bad Mr Clean with no ref. I might have given him a genie vest and then discovered it was always a nice clean T.

Have you seen that new book "Ad Boy: Vintage Advertising with Character". Bud Plant sent around an e-mail advertising it. And on Amazon you can browse through the book a little and see a lot of funny old little-remembered mascots. Is this what gave you the idea for the series Rick?

No, I think it was a combination of the aging superheroes (as Beata suggests) and one of the artists at work who did a series of paintings of the Otter Pop characters.

LOVE Jack Davis!

Hey, that book looks awesome! I think I need to get that.

More drawings to come.

I think I forgot to give him a gold earring.
