This was only a test. If this had been a real post... you'd be even more flummoxed by now.

Let's keep this thread going!!

The last time I took a test, I think I flunked ... hopefully Dok is grading on the curve ...

Is that cabbage headed guy a painting of yours Tom? I checked out a large view. Cool character.

I'm confused and unfocused. Must be a test.

Go here for cool free movies. Obscure stuff.

Tom's guy is a greenman! Hey, that would be a pretty cool super hero... Greenman! By day he's a mild mannered ex-presidential candidate and Nobel laureate, by night...

It's really great to see you back on the blog, Dok!

Tom Moon said...

Yes, Rick is right. That is a Greenman sketch I did as a character proposal for EQ2 a long while back. And I have definitely thought of making him an ongoing comic character! I like Ellis suggestion of calling him "Cabbage Head" though.

Regarding the TAG table, it sounds like a great idea, but I'm not sure I'll have anything to sell there by that time. I'm keeping my project a labor of love for now and I'm not quite ready to commit to any strict deadlines.

Put my foot in it! Sorry Tom. He's leafy not cabbage headed. Nice painting. Lets see the whole guy

No, no really! I like "Cabbage Head"! It's hilarious! Hmm... I wonder where the full version is...

Hey Rick, Did you have an earthquake today?

Rickart said...

Yessir... it happened while we were carving pumpkins. It was a nice, calm rolling kind of quake. I called my sister, who was closer to the epicenter, and she said to me "Welcome to CA!"

$350 for a small press table... not bad at all when shared by how ever many of us end up doing it.

What isn't clear from the sign up document is what is legit for us to sell at the table. They may have limits as to who can sell what... If I am working the booth by myself I may not be allowed to sell Ellis's sketchbook, but I can sell Gore Hole because I contributed to it. Jeff might know more about this since he's done this with some of his story buddies before.

What we may want to consider is any future publications we do we create under the banner of "TAG Comics Group" or something so that they are all by the same "Publisher".

I do know that an artist can’t loan out his spot in Artist Alley to another person… that spot can only be used, and only sell the stuff, of the artist who owns the spot. I also know that Artist Alley is notoriously difficult to get into. I think you need to be chummy with the Comic Con folks or be a really big name artist to get a spot.

Tom Moon said...

If we call it "TAG Comics Group" then we would be the "Tuesday Art Group Comics Group".

Or we could be the "Tuesday Art Group Team" and so be the "Tag Team".

Rickart said...

OOOoooh... I can see the t-shirts now.... TAG Team! I LIKE it!

Dok as a Dog said...

Me too!

I think Rick's idea is brilliant. We lulu publish a bunch of sketches together and sell 'em at the con, to Bud Plant, anyone interested.

Didn't Dave Doorman and three pro friends do a goup booklet?

BTW, my plans are to attend the French comic book convention in Avignon next year, and be back just in time for the S.D. one.

And I'd be delighted to bring copies of anyone's medium sized prints or books to sell. Ellis?

I'm planning nothing formal on the selling side. I'm just going to wander & see what opportunity affords the ugly american parading as a noble canadian.

Rickart said...

Heh… I was just thinking about how we could promote our product... collectively we have a pretty impressive array of credits. There would be something in our product to attract the attention of just about anyone, from comics to film to video games.

French comic con... that sounds AWESOME! I wanna go, too!

...and to eliminate the redundancy of the terms "group" and "team" being in the title, we could always change the meaning of T.A.G. from "Tuesday Art Group" to "Tuesday Art Gods"...

"Tuesday Art Giants?"
"Tuesday Art Gnomes?"
"Tuesday Art Geeks?"

H.Small Press Table ( Limit 1 )

On Approval

Exhibit space consists of one 6' table per exhibitor.
Small press space is limited. You must submit a current example of your publication with your application to be considered for small press space. Deadline for submission is Feb 1 , 2008.

350.00

I transcribed the above from the PDF. Pretty simple. One person behind the table at a time. As many Lulu books as we can muster by then. Get your samples together by Feb 1. Maybe sooner would be better.

I would be in to sell a sketchbook of my junk. The idea of one person behind the table at a time is good to me. I don't really like sitting during the Con. There is so much goodness/good-badness going on. I'm in!
