FYI

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up that Jeff Jonas' wife, Barbara Jonas, passed away yesterday after a long fight with cancer. I don't have any contact info for Jeff right now as he has gone to Barbara's home town for the services. I will let you know more when I have more info to give.

Barbara was a bright soul and she will be missed. Please keep Barbara and Jeff in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh man. this is just sad....my condolences to Jeff and his family. That "C" stuff is just horrible....horrible. At work my office manager's brother passed in July after being diagnosed in Jan with the stuff and add to that the memory of Ricky J. Cancer sucks.

Hate to hear this. Hope Jeff and family can be comforted as much as is possible.

Thanks for posting that Rick. I have been wondering what's been happening the last couple of days. I talked to Jeff just prior to our leaving on vacation, and I knew that Barbara had gone into the hospice center that day. Jeff and Barbara just celebrated their 12th anniversary together a few days before she died. I hope Jeff is doing alright.

I remember Jeff mostly as a bachelor. Do I remember right that he met Barbara in one of the earliest instances of internet correspondence? Something like the early prototype of chat rooms. I hope he's alright too.

Yes, Jeff and Barbara met online back in the BlueSky days. She was from Tennessee, and Jeff was about 40 when they got together. As I remember, they met face to face in Las Vegas for the first time after that, fell in love, got married out in Tennessee, then she moved out here to California.

Jeff Jonas is my hero. He and Bruce Fergueson (who helped Jeff out alot) seem to me to be _real_ men amongst the rest of us posers.

Jeff himself has been such a rock for Barbara and carried the hospice duties at home w/ love and tenderness. He and Barbara's love and courage for each other continues to be so inspiring to Ann and I.

So for us that love lives on and will always be something to celebrate.

When we were still in SD we would go to see Christmas Card Lane... I recall stopping in at the Jonas household and Barbara was so great with the girls. She had a splendid personality that was a joy to be around. Barbara and Jeff complimented each other very well and I'm sure that this is a gift that will live on in Jeff for many years to come.

We are going to be in SD for the first weekend (Friday to Sunday) of Nov. to do some house building in TJ on Sunday... I hope that I will get a chance to see Jeff and everyone else when we are there.

It's good to see you back on these pages Dok, and I highly approve of your sentiments and echo them.

Terrible news. I hope he's okay. Does anybody have his e-mail address so I can send him a note?

Shoop is going to give me the contact info... I'll ping him again just to make sure...

Jeff has dedicated his normal website to his wife and has a link to a memorial page where you can post a message if you like.

I have been provided with Jeff's email address... I was reminded by someone much smarter than myself that I shouldn't post his address here, so if you want it you can email me: rick@rickschmitz.com

Thanks Rick for the address.

Hi, this is Derek Benson, formerly of SOE.

Please offer Jeff my condolences. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. And yes, this made me think of Rick Johnson too.

Thanks for chiming in, Derek! It doesn't surprize me at all that Jeff has so many friends.

If any of you guys see Jeff, please pass on my condolences. I have fond memories of Jeff and from the few times I met Barbara at BlueSky, she seemed like a terrific woman. My Mom went through cancer treatment this last Christmas and it is really a draining, horrible experience for everybody involved.
