Magical because it is onstage and a practical effect. It beats the movie on that count. And if it doen't have Jack Black, another big plus.
Hard to compartmentalize my disappointment with Jackson's Kong. So anticipated. So disappointing. He just didn't get it and yet he's the world's biggest King Kong fan. Recreating the lost pit sequence and everything,
I own the DVD and have never talked myself into re-watching it. Seen the original...15 times? Something like that.
Totally agree on all counts. Jackson didn't get it at all and he's WAY too self-indulgent. More is not always better... "if one trex is great then 3 is Awesome!"... perhaps not.
