Amazing caricature. I really like the fully painted marker stuff. But the underpinning drawings are the secret of why the paintings come out so well. It's all there.
Drawings sure make a night at the opera look like fun.
I think you really captured them, especially the red-haired woman. A night at the opera does look fun, even more so since I see the show only lasts an hour and eighteen minutes. Short and sweet.
I think of Citizen Kane and The Naked Gun for great failed Opera singing scenes.Enricco PallazzoAnd that one guy definitely looks like M Emmet Walsh. Especially the Blood Simple photo era.
S.D. Opera held a fundraising dinner after the opera and we were able to attend. I got to meet all of the singers (except the female lead!) and showed them the drawings. They all really got a kick out of 'em!Scotty, you gotta put yrs up--go to the San Diego Opera blog "Aria Serious" you guys, and look at everybody's. They're all really fun and unique. Scott brought the comic book chops--they're great!
Yeah Scott. We want to see.
Oh Look Marty. He's on it
yeah! Love how "classic comic book" Scott's drawings look. He should post 'em here...but he's probably above hanging out with us anymore!
Yours are great Scott's are great. Shanower only had one study I really liked. Where it was sketchy and the most unfinished. Lash's were alright. Tied with Shanower. Now as to first and second....
Looks like TAG was really well represented there! It also looks like fun was had by all. Nice work, gents!
Thanks for that link, Ellis. GREAT work, guys!I'm going to talk to Batton about gathering the best of these Opera Season drawings into a special Aria Serious exhibit at ArtLab.
