TAG North Pic

Click on the title of this post to go to our sister Blog, TAG North, to see some recent posts. We have a bunch of new drawings and a photo of some of the attendees... you may even recognize one or two of the names and faces.

We have been getting fantastic results at the sessions with the last 2 meetings hitting 24 artists in attendance. The mailing list has become pretty huge and there is a lot of excitement for this whole thing. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the PopCap office, where there is a large break room for us to hang out together in. We are attracting comic book guys and freelancers as well as game artists.

It's surprisingly easy to maintain as well... I send out a meeting reminder a week before the next session and then the day before. I also send out an occasional reminder about the blog. Then all I need to do is keep the mailing list up to date and bingo! We've got a new Seattle institution!

I don't get too much of a chance to draw myself at the meetings as I need to let people into the building after hours (shades of the K street loft!) and because I want to walk around and spend time with all of the folks who show up.

Our last meeting was the day that Shel passed away, and it seemed like going to a TAG meeting was a very fitting way to remember him. If you guys come up to visit us, you need to make sure that part of your visit falls on the first Tuesday of the month... :)

Fantastic Rick. Great dynamic from getting 20 plus creative types together once a week. I can see comic books happening, breakout companies and in general good fun.
I've moved my bookmark for Tag North so it sits squarely under my Tag bookmark. Gotta get habituated on clicking it.

But you don't draw at the meetings?

That's too much host expectation.

Is life drawing the point or do you guys just doodle on personal projects or theme of the night?

Ronnie Ashlock. Why aren't you on Facebook anymore?

Facebook is just too much...how do I put it?... it's just too much. I had entertained the idea of quitting for the better part of a year - nearly as soon as I joined - and decided there was no time like the present to clean house. A week and a half ago, I deactivated the account and today I learned you have to also tell Facebook Inc. to delete the account or it hangs in limbo forever - waiting for you to cave in and come back. So I sent the message to delete the account and I have two weeks to wait before it is gone for good - or so they say. The temptation is there to start my account back up again, but I don't feel a strong desire to rekindle it.

I much prefer the kind of dialog and discussion to be had on dedicated boards like this one, where there is a common theme and a reason to post (even if it is to post links to youtube clips about chimps that act like humans). I also think a website that lives as an ever-changing personal portfolio/gallery is a much better use of my time. I still plan on participating here and on other boards where I feel I have something to contribute and as time permits.

I'm with you in spirit Ronnie. facebook wastes time that could be better spent and may bite everyone in the butt eventually in some as yet unknown way.
How many Blogs can a guy have. i'm ready to start a fresh one myself.
