EDIT=Got rid of one of the links to the high rez images.
I think I'm slowing things down with these thumbnails being shortcuts to 300 dpi images.
Because Blogspot may need to lower the rez,

The original crop barely includes the figure on top of the carriage. But I felt obligated to work her out so what survives the crop looks right.
How does this strike you Marty? A panel at a time. I'll try and finish the other "hard" one tonight. After that, it's all close ups, drama.
Notice the flames giving you some lost line opps on the archer's arm.
I hate horses.
Just a couple of shifts and scaling differences
The link just in case

And NOW, straight from ECCC
Teen Ellis vs Frankenstein
And the old guy thrusting his hand deep into the pocket of his cargo pants. Just all pumped full of character and fun. I assume Stuart Ng is your biggest fan.
Thanks Marty.
Sent this extra large version of my personalized sketch. 300dpi in color. Get close.

That sketchbook was truly something.
I laughed at the one of Jeff sweating/sketching while the yokels complain about the shortage of talent.
The plaid design dry brush on the yokel was insane mastery of that tool. And the old guy thrusting his hand deep into the pocket of his cargo pants. Just all pumped full of character and fun. I assume Stuart Ng is your biggest fan.

Both images are identical. No de-rezzing occurred
Marty. Leave out that arrow that seems to stick out of his nose. I meant it to be beyond his face. But there's no way to read that. So it's the nose arrow unless it is omitted.
And don't try to give me my line back. I want the brush pen whisk of Marty Davis.
OH WOW YEAH!!!
You're good, Goodson!
If they make it out alive it'll be an arrow escape.
I had a slow rumble of a chuckle Tom. Thanks.
I realize Lion Killer is probably a child reaction to the Cowardly Lion actually being a fairly fearsome presence. When he first jumps out, those three are toast.
El!
OK, I'm supposed to ink this now, right? Very cool image. I can definitely see the Cowardly Lion influence in the model...do you think I should emphasize that, or maybe downplay it...?
I listened to part deux of yr podcast interview--very funny stuff. You do indeed need yr own p-cast!! We have to make it happen!
Do you mind inking it a panel at a time for later re assembly.
I may modify this before you ink it. If you only ink one panel I'll consider that gravy.
I would be awful at podcasts. That said, being awful doesn't stop anyone else from podcasting. It's easy to do. I have skyp. Do a chat, mike it, little editing with quicktime pro, voila.
I'll do those mods before I go to my interview at Avis. Good 15 minute deadline.
All the mods are scale issues and maybe an angle or two.
As far as anything you emphsise, go nuts. Make it a re-invention.
Correct, enhance my anatomy as you see fit.
Spec-friggin-tacular work Ellis! I'm not sure you even need Marty... this piece is really good as is. (no offense, Mr. Davis)
No one needs Marty--they want him!!
Thanks Rick. I do want and need the Marty Brush Pen magic.
I'd like to see the uncropped version so I can see the archer in the upper right in all her glory.
Great as the drawing is in its present form, I'm looking forward to see the inked version, as I'm sure Marty will add a whole new dimension to it.
It's really cool if you use the left and right arrow keys to flip back and forth between the first and second version. The carriage rocks back and forth with a two step animation. (And the arrow in the lion's nose jumps around too!)
Now I have to do that.
And NOW the Goodson story is recorded for posterity. Hope you got a copy on file.
Podcasting is very self indulgent medium. It really is exactly the satire of Wayne's World come to life. Public access. Democratization of the Tonight Show.
El! Glad you dug the book--and the sketch. You can see the white-out involved, but hey--it's purple Tombow, whaddya expect??!?
The white out is great. It becomes another quick, hand made mark.
Tigers rather than lions, but some great big cat face reference is right here: http://www.bajiroo.com/2013/04/26-pictures-of-tigers-swimming-under-water/
Great snarl reference Rick. I need all of those. Thanks for the link.
ELLIS--!!
I just noticed a misapprehension in yr update about the new Brushpen Breakfast: that's not Jeff Ranjo sweating the yokels as he tries to sketch--that's our beloved Joe Sanabria!
It is a fictitious scene built out of real life sketches...I drew Joe while he and I were sketching together at the Irvine Spectrum...drew the girl the same day, but she wasn't actually watching Joe draw. The two critical dudes were from ECCC 2013...their dialogue "I thought there'd be more TALENT here," was an actual comment I heard them say--right beside our table (*gulp*). The sketches were all super-quickies from life, caught in the moment...but without some context, the dudes' snarky observation makes no sense, so I constructed the scene.
Does that make me evil?
Let's call it "Brushpen COLLAGE."
Aha. Now it makes sense. Haven't seen Joe in awhile. Now I see it. The plaid dry brush lost and found on the guy's shirt is still insane that anyone can even do that with the tool.
I also really like that Boney Daniel Clowes drawing. Like he has extra vertabrae from his sitting posture.
