Dude, Your timeline is ALL over the place. Focus! Focus! LOL. Never the less and interesting interview. Made me think of those days. Can't believe you forgot Eclipse at first. Hell I was probably at that show when you met Dean and Cat. I remember when they showed up.
I just realized this is a ONE DAY turn around on this broadcast. Of course the reason is all those moments where someone says "We can edit that" and no editing has occurred. Raw feed. Not bad when you think of it that way. One day because I quit my job and this interview happened later that day. Saturday. My last video from the late shift at the old job Tuesday
Quit because the new boss was a pulling the wings off flies jackass type. I was only up for about 2 days of his nonsense.
Aw man...you quit? Got news for you, lot more jackasses in charge out there than they used to be. Sorry to hear. Who am I to say, in a very short time I'm going to be one screwed pooch after I move. Not looking forward it at all. Just getting out of here has been problematic.
Not completely clear on what I do next. I've discussed taking over the art chores on an established web comic. Been out there 4 years now. Has a fan following. The owner / author / artist is going through a bad patch of health and is willing to pay me. Details if it works out.
And you're right about the jerks out there Jim. I think the dog eat dog world is grinding civility out of everything.
I started listening to this podcast when I went to bed last night--made it thru the first 20 (40??) minutes of the hosts' intro...but once I got to you, Ellis, Blair demanded I stop listening or go in another room--because I kept laughing out loud and waking her up!
One thing is crystal clear--sweet jeebus you need your own podcast. My God are you funny! Made me miss our Ellis all over again....
Bummed about the job...but great that an art job might be coming yr way!!
Thanks Marty. I figured I'd be overcome with self consciousness listening to it. I actually enjoyed it. You'll like part 2 as well.
Equipment used was some recording app on an ipad, set on a table between us. Scott gets the worst of it because the mike is obviously somewhat directional and he was on the farthest point of the vector to the mike.
I have an interview today, for a 3D terrain modeling gig, even though my resume clearly states I have not done 3D in 7 years. This along with your interview made me realize something that is probably terribly obvious. There are those within TAG who did NOT take the job that is related to what they want to to do, that is kinda sorta in the industry, but instead waited for the exact job that was exactly what they wanted to do, or at least stayed exclusively on that trajectory. There is a profound difference on how that strategy paid off in the long run.
Yeah, sticking to "Just a paycheck" job was a bad move. Worked better for some than others but in the end the bottom did drop out and the "Just a paycheck" gigs are fewer and far between. Add age, Lack of new technical skills or too many with the same skills, loss of influential contacts, plain old changes in the way they run things now are a sizable obstacle. Too many squirrels out there and far too few nuts.

Interesting coincidence that Forrest Gump came on right as I start listening to this.
Stupid is as stupid does. Kind of a recurring theme in the interview.
No, it's fun. I enjoyed listening to it again. Pt2 next week.
I'm a pretty big name dropper..
Hell, Bowery had Huey Lewis, Sam Kinnison, etc.
Yes. I was extremely put out with my brain not being able to reel out all the great acts that showed at The Bowery.

Oh no! You liked that job. Too bad. What are you going to do now?

Bummer, Just pulled out another BIG stack of books to sell to the used store. Man what crap I've been hanging on too.
Yes. Part of the big letting go is realizing that anything stored without any weekly access is basically little more than trash.
Don't know whether to salute the human spirit or start drinking heavily.
Drinking Heavily! It' doesn't help the situation but you forget for awhile
HOLY CRAP!

Ben. Jeff is the best example. Going back to school to correct cultural . easy pushes into this and that.
I didn't want to use any particular names, but he is one of the people I was thinking of.
