Hand Me the Shark Repellent Bat Spray

I wanted to blog but felt it was necessary to contribute visually. I am super out of practice. One thing or another has kept me away from drawing more than crap on post-its for more than a year now it seems.

Nonetheless, months ago I wrote a thesis on how the comic book store killed the comic book. An interview of comic book writer Chuck Dixon validated my thesis to some extent. Promoting his writing for the graphic novel of Clinton Cash, Dixon was asked why the comic book readers couldn't dissuade the corporate overlords from introducing faddish PC elements into the comic books much like gamers did. Dixon answered that there just aren't enough comic book readers to make a difference. In the nineties, for reasons of their own, the comic book companies removed themselves from the newsstands and went to the comic book stores. He said he felt the impact of that decision immediately on his royalties checks. He also mentioned that Disney and Warner Bros. are actually not interested in  comic book production and are seriously considering stopping the production of new issues and relying solely on repackaging their library.

Anyway, just trying to be relevant.

The interview was on the Milo Yiannopoulos Show episode 20.

Very good sketch Ben. I like the anatomy being pushed on both characters.. The post its are perfectly valid ways to exercise the drawing muscle. That's why I've got a ream of index cards handy.
