Krita...an exceptional FREE painting application

Krita is worth your consideration. It is a very impressive alternative to Photoshop, Painter, even Manga Studio and Toon Boom Animate (the animation tools are currently being tested in the most recent beta)

I haven't given up on Adobe's old workhorse, but I do actually prefer Krita for painting and drawing. I find it much more responsive and intuitive and I like the brushes more. Plus, it does multiple undos without the need of a clumsy history stack. The animation features are really good, too.

The bonus is that it is open source, multi-platform and freely available, although I would encourage anyone who likes the program to consider some kind of donation in order to keep the developers funded so they can continue to improve it.

I've loaded Krita and never got it to work right. It's the favorite program of a Eric Lee on the FB group ok comic creators. And he's a co-owner of a company that has every software paint program to pick from.

Sorry to hear you can't get it work, Ellis. What OS are you using?

Oh..I see. Yeah, apparently Krita is still listed as 'experimental' and is known to be unstable on OSX. And it's only tested against Mavericks, apparently. Well, that is a bit of bummer, but reading up on it, it sounds like the situation is mostly due to the size of the development team and their limited resources than anything else. I'm sure they'd love to have the millions of Mac users out there.

I run it on multiple distributions of Linux and Windows where it works pretty flawlessly. I just kind of assumed it would be solid on the Mac, but it is not. I would probably not invest too much time in getting it to work, then. Sorry if I've squirreled away valuable time.

Thanks. I seem to remember that when I looked into it. Oh well. I'm pretty happy of late with my cloud photoshop and my Kyle Brush presets.

I'm downloading. Windows 10 machine. Don't know when I can experiment. Didn't understand a word of the FAQ.
