Manga Studio - Digging It

Watching Doug's little one hour presentation gave me a lot of confidence I could dig into manga studio and get something done. I did this bit of import and trace up in about 15 minutes.
I'm going to take Doug's lead, find a 5 page horror story i had thumbnailed and import that for inks.

Hey, cool! I like that cleaner ink transfer a lot! Slick but still with the loose feel. Pursue more of that my loquacious rube!

Hey Rube! Brings back my Carny days. I can almost taste the raw chicken.

I love the idea of you doing more with this. Gawd the dude in the lower rt corner is funny.

But don't lose that Goodson goodness in yer finishes!

The inks look to me like they are done with a very uniform finish, almost like it's the same line weight throughout...could the ink medium be stifling some of the original "searching" and "discovery" of the original drawing?

I find it incredibly hard to redraw something I've already drawn. I know inking is supposed to be different, but I can get way too tight when inking a pre-drawn image, so I try to do a bit of the drawing in the ink.

I love the idea of a Goodson HORROR COMIC!

Marty, the line weight can be real nice and thick to thin. I've been inking for about two hours and I really enjoy it over a loose thumbnail. Right now my draftsmanship is really sorry. Tighter thumbnail drawings would help but that will be the next one.

It's also very cheap. 50 bucks when they aren't running specials on it. I think I got mine for about 15 bucks.

Since what i want is a Heinrich Kley type of draftsmanship, I'll probably import a Kley piece and ink that. Just to give me assurance. Right now, I'll cop out too quick on shading effects achieved with the pencil. I want it clean, but I also want it to have whatever the pencils had. Once I get to where I can take a tight index card size bit of pencils and do nice inks, I'll have it knocked.
