Scoring Pencils

Title is the link to a pencil I discovered in my collection.
It's out of manufacture.
But I found some other scoring pencils made by Dixon.
It's a very buttery and fun lead to draw with.

The sketches are incidental to the feel of putting the line down.

So I recommend finding an office supply with scoring pencils.

I added another sketch that combines the three pencils I've been working with. It's probably no more complex than discovering I like the equivalent of a 4b pencil.

This all lead to me and Krayonzilla sparring with google searches on hard to find and expensive to buy , out of manufacture pencils.
Jim has a box and a half of the apex of desired pencils, Eberhard Faber Blackwing 602. I have one. Jim could probably get 250 bucks for his box.

For a bunch of pencils? Yow! Hope that's an exaggeration.

But they're the APEX ... of desired pencils. Actually, that's my new band's name ...

go to the link above and see the final selling price for a box of the blackwings.

($384 a doz.)

This is kinda goofy. I just bought a similar pencil still being made called the Palimino. Spent 8 bucks for a dozen.

Wouldn't you rather have the ACME of desired pencils? Beep beep!

I believe that's "meep, meep"

Using Ellis' pencil price as an audio guide, it'd be, "cheap, cheap ..."

Chuck Jones and John Steinbeck both preferred the Blackwing 602. What the DeLorean is to cars, is what the Faber Castell Blackwing 602 is to pencils. Many artist, writers and music composers championed this pencil. I wished I had bought more before it's demise in 1998. It's great. All accounts say the California Republic Palimino is it's successor but is not as slick in design or color as the Blackwing 602.

I do like the gull wings on the eraser. The heavy stainless steel shaft is not for the limp wristed.

Hmmm... I posted earlier today but it didn't stick...

What I said was "If one of these pencils makes me draw like Ellis, then they are worth the price!"

I like this latest drawing of yours Ellis. Any chance we will get to see some more sketches from "Lion Killer"? And Tom, how's Meal Magic doing?
