First Page
Having a good time doing this. Biggest problem is the roughs I'm doing the line art from are way too rough. The next attempt will have a complete script and much better thumbnails. Inking it with each panel as a group.
I had to upload the page directly. The tumblr link seems to be blocked
Something to shoot for. These kind of thumbnails before I start...

Love it. Wonderful codger-ness to the cigar-chomper. Great handling of B&W--so stark and satisfying.
If i were to nitpick, I'd wonder if the "KE-RAK" of the final frame gets a little cramped? Maybe just a little unnec'ly obscured by that black shadow on its upper border? I mention this 'cause I LOVE the pay off/hook of the "KE-RAK," which makes me pant for the next page.
You're right Marty. I may address that. It would be simple enough. It's on its own level.
This whole 9 or 10 pages is sort of a palate cleanser while I try to get a discipline for daily comic book work. Getting more serious and improved. Right now I fell like I've been given permission to be bad. Doug T had a podcast the other night that had some of that message in it. Then there was this this bit of wisdom from the guy that wrote all the Rockford Files...and he obviously never slowed down to worry about high quality...
Don't Struggle
I don’t struggle because I was always the stupidest kid in the class and the idea that I would ever be brilliant was knocked out of me in the third grade. So I’m not sitting around trying to be brilliant, or Shakespeare. I’m just trying to get the work I have in my head down on the page in the best way I possibly know how without putting that horrible pressure on myself of saying “I’m going to write it today and in 200 years at Princeton they will be studying these words.” Yeah, I want my stuff to be as good as I can conceivably make it, but I am not going to put that on my head.
STEPHEN J. CANNELL
Great point, El. But one small correction:
THE ROCKFORD FILES WAS/IS GENIUS.
I love Rockford Files. You're right. I think Cannell was dyslexic. I also think he's dead now. Yeah. Died in 2010.

Now I have to drop it for a couple of days. Going to try and get some freelance from Thom Olson. Modeler Guy at Heavy Iron that was replaced by Bob Wallace.
Freelance and comics! Awesome! I'm looking forward to the next page, but I understand that I might have to wait for a bit.
There is a lot of wisdom in the idea of not letting "Perfect" get in the way of "Getting Something Done".
Agree with Rick on both counts!
My hotlink back to Tumblr broke. Or the new Blog Spot has started to filter stuff from Tumblr.
Looking great, Ellis!
