This will free me from the Home Depot hell.
I've already looked at the place I'll be working. Somewhat Stygian but not a trace of the feeble minded general public wanting you to find a washer for their faucet. That's all it takes to make it a spectacularly better job.
Should become "permanent part time" if I show up on time and regularly. I'm the king of attendance and promptness.
I will work 4am to 9 am 5 nights a week.
Going to shoot for a disciplined sleep break that gives me a big window for drawing and creating.
Drawing from OAFCON I haven't posted any where.
I was trying to simplify the Riley method down to drawing a gesture "starfish" and then the core shadow line.
The figure is invented.

I was explaining the main goals of Riley/Orbik gesture drawing to the guy I was sharing the table with at Oafcon.
I'll celebrate by going back to Kong for my blogspot ID
Hooray! Great news. Really glad to hear it.
And I am glad to see you switch back to a Kong avatar...nothing against Bode, but I was sent on a Googling mission by Jason Weesner last night (he said one of my drawings looked very "Metal Hurlant"), and stumbled upon the source image for your recent ID icon. Let's just say it darkened my view a little...I confess I'm relieved to see it switched out for the life-affirming joy that is KONG.
The Riley method!
Did you take any classes with Glen(n?) Orbik? Super-nice guy. Only met him in passing a few times.
I'm glad you've found a gig that is more to your liking.
Not to get all nerdy, but technically speaking, isn't that avatar image the Son of Kong?
Son of Kong was albino. The pictures are from this website. Talking about a Thanksgiving tradition of Kong showings. Sounds good to me.
The shot is obviously not a still from the film. Fay is too big and I believe that the Kong being used may be a smaller scale than the one for the actual scene. Looks like a promo recreation.
No telling when it was done. May be fan generated.
The Website
Just the image
I just got my hair cut. My lady barber used to work the exact job I'm about to work. She was laughing at how hard the work is going to be ahead. When you next see me I may look like Conan. My body mutated from the wheel of pain that is UPS.
Yes Marty. That is Colbalt 60 and that gory image was the cover of a Witzend. Which is coming out as complete collection hardcover. I'm afraid I'll have to have that.
Wally Wood doing something Underground before there was Underground.
And I did have a quick sketch class with Orbik. Surrounded by all his work hanging on the walls at the TO school. He's something else. Love it when he does pop era looking paperback cover illustration.
I meant PULP era.
I stand corrected.
