I don't have a drawing to contribute today, but check out my cool birthday present (a gift from myself to myself):
It's HUGE! The pages are the same size as Jack's original art--a ginormous 15" x 22." They're direct scans of the originals, so they come with all the marginalia, paste-up and corrections--you can even see the underlying blue-line grid (tho' it seems more light gray than blue on a lot of the pages).
Talk about cool!
p.s. I love all the new, original TAG content! Inspiring!

HoHo-Holey Ma-Loley! That looks fantastic. You could make a pup tent out of that.
Fantagraphics is awesome.
Happy Birthday!
I saved the high rez cersions. Amazing.
Do you learn anything when you see that art the actual size?
El! The book is incredible--and published by IDW!
At this scale (the original size!)you really get a sense of each stroke of the brush or pen. All that cross-hatching is mesmerizing life-sized.
You also get a better sense of how quickly Davis drew these--he's not trying to be perfect, and sometimes the structure gets wonky--also he does that thing you see a lot in Caniff where the figures can be pretty static in a few panels--but it works!
I'm really blown away by how much he sculpts the scenes in black and white...a very solid, 3D feel to everything-which I like! It's really great--got it from the publisher at WonderCon--a pre-release copy (book was hitting shelves the next week)...all mine for $129 plus tax (oof!).
That is wicked-cool. Congratulations on a wise purchase!
You would have to build a custom bookcase just to store that series of books.
That looks pretty dang awesome!
Happy Birthday Mr. D.!
By the way. Forgot to mention it. The picture made me laugh. Great Incredible Shrinking Man prop.
Yeah, Marty should be sitting in that oversized chair Lily Tomlin would sit in when dressed as a little girl.
And that's the truth PBPBPBPBT!
Ha! There was no PhoSho manipulation of this to increase the scale...it's huge fer reals!
Marty is a BAD influence. Just dropped some dough on this. Ugh!
Yay, Jimmy!
Now to work on Tom....(as a Davis I'm expecting some royalties out of this).
