I still feel very personally offended that you chose to portray me as a naked, pot-bellied red devil.

Fie!

These look really good, Jimmy--both individually and as a group. You and I talked about wanting more constructive criticism, so I will add a couple thoughts:

1. Keep working on improving and expanding your mental library of hand shapes--these are all OK, but hands are an area where you can mark yourself as a really skilled artist as opposed to just an OK one (I struggle with 'em all the time!). I think a bigger variety of hand poses will lead to better silhouettes, too.

2. If you wanted to pump up your silhouettes even more, you could try to inject just a little more action into your poses--FER INSTANCE, a lot of the poses have kind of static shoulders--often the same position on each side. Some of yr best characters are ones with more action in this area (the "thief" in lower left corner, the big yellow lummox center, bottom row--his shoulders are hunched up around his ears like he's raising them to get ready for action--even this simple change-up adds life/interest to the character--same thing is happening with the werewolf above him). I know these are small sprites and the game designers probably want them in pretty neutral poses, but it might be something to massage in the future...(yes, I said massage the shoulders!).

Very cool stuff--I really like yr monster sensibility on the Frankenstein--he's real creepy. And I agree with Rick, the birds are some of the best stuff here. And birds are hard!

Well, You'd be surprised on how I got knocked down on some of the early sketches....They want generic plain jane. The yellow guy is supposed to be a Bully, so I made him such. They didn't like it but seeing how they ran out of time, went with it. So that gives you an idea of what I had to deal with. And I did like the Robot Parrot but hated the Vulture. plus THE RUSH, RUSH OF IT ALL. Had to chreat on the construction here and there or I would have found myself fudging them until time and money ran out. Never the less, better work than I did last time.

Ah, art directors...the bane of the artist's existence (Schmitty isn't listening, is he??).

(@Tom: psst! These aren't samples--they're real work!)

I dig 'em Jimmy--they look pro. I couldn't add this comment to my previous comment via my mobile device...as you saw, I was at warehouse watching my dad load his semi!

I like the vulture--esp'ly his hatchet beak. Very cool shapes there--and I like his expression!

The Vulture was my LESS inspired. That one was a "Just get it done" deal. Sometimes I'll add stuff in the vector that wasn't in my original sketch just to add polish and other's are just I don't have another idea in my head cuz I want to go to bed.

Well this didn't have an Art Director...She quit back in Jan so I had to deal with the Instructional designers and project manager on direction. I would have loved to have a guy like Rick calling the shots, but no dice here. He would probably told them to jump off a bridge. Oh well, It's getting done and I GOT PAID. That's what counts at this point.

I heard that, Davis!

LOL!!!!

Yes, of course they are. Real work for one job becomes samples for the next job! :)
