First E-Pub

Used Caliber to convert my Albino Story Into a Proto EPub
Sharing it with google docs.

PDF VERSION

That link allows to you to download a copy. Very small file. Uses a placeholder -non related "Cover"

The Epub was a quick run through using the caliber software. This is the unedited, archive version. What I transcribed.

Thoughts about over thinking storytelling.

I understand to a casual reader, this little malformed fantasy borders on unreadable. But I couldn't get over how much I got right, 30 years ago, when I really had no idea what I was doing. Things like - always want more, enter late, meanwhile back at the ranch, getting the senses regularly involved.

There is a lot that works.

I'm going to clean the passive voice out of it and be happy with it. Sell it as a "lost" oddity. A supernatural love story.

Cannot open.

interesting. But it downloaded? Or you can't get to the link?

MrGoodson2 said...

Supposedly anyone with the link can navigate to the site and download. I'll change the rule to "any one."

Changed the settings. But it still says "view" not download. I think to download, I'd have to add your email to the creator. I'll put it on lulu tonight as a pdf

I can download it but I don't have whatever program I need to open it. I have never heard of an ".epub" document and I guess my computer hasn't either. With a little google research I'm sure I could find the right program and download it but I'm being lazy, plus I try to limit the number of things I just go and download onto my computer from the internet. There are always potential problems.

I should be able to open the .pdf though.

Oh, I got you. I'll do a pdf on google docs

I have the same result as Tom. I'd love to check it out as a PDF.

PDF is as easy as "print" command in textedit. Choose make PDF.

Try and ignore the intrusion of my transcription of the original pagination.

That will be the first, quick edit I need to do. Cut all that out.

My 100 page "book" is actually a 50 page, hardly a novelette.

Probably not enough meat on its bones to make a 90 minute screenplay.

Downloading now! Thanks, Ellis!

I've caught the first cold I've had in 5 years. Don't feel like concentrating on the re-write. But the lulu pub will be next when I feel better.

Stephen King: "The road to hell is paved with adverbs."

welcome to hell if you read The Albino

Beata said...

I have nothing against adverbs -- inherently -- and look forward to reading my downloaded copy of The Albino (in bits and pieces).

Feel better soon, Ellis.

MrGoodson2 said...

Cool Beata. I think I'll drop it into final draft today just to see what happens.

This is so huge I will need some time to get my head around it.

Wow!

MrGoodson2 said...

Huge? It's dinky. I thought it was huge when I was doing it just because it was hard to do.

I read that Stephen King article recently. It must be making the rounds. Someone posted it on Facebook. His main objection is if the adverb is redundant, such as in,

‘Put it down! she shouted menacingly.

‘Give it back,’ he pleaded abjectly, ‘it’s mine.’

‘Don’t be such a fool, Jekyll,’ Utterson said contemptuously.

The article is worth reading.

I'm very annoyed. It looks like King's ON Writing book was one of my donation. It turns out I kep Your Screenplay Sucks. Can't believe I didn't make room for that teensy little book.
