Going To Lowes For Krystal Klear Tomorrow
I Enjoyed painting directly into a toned xerox on card stock. I'm going to use krystal Klear on the next one and see if that's a better way to work. Harder to cover the xerox than it should be. I also want to try one where I come back and darw into it again. The clear coat will help that. It's on Ebay with all it's flaws.
Added some changes to the painting. Put Batman's feet behind a random curb plane. Changed the break of the Monkey Wrench (pipe wrench actually) arm so the anatomy was closer to right. Couple of more dabs here and there.
Would need a lot of work but a good head start on something to digitally paint into. Got the colors from that Mickey Video game that was done in Austin.

The crystal clear makes a difference. It just stinks so bad I don't know if it will ever be something I can leave in the room. The page is in the garage right now.
Success. The crystal clear is no longer stinky and it makes the xerox very workable. The xerox is on index stock. Using acrylics. Kind of a cool way to work. I think I'll do another.
May colorize in photoshop the ape-Batman painting first.
Whether you intended it or not, the color added to the characters already there suggest a story; something to do with kryptonite, Titano, and Superman.
Aha. That gives Superman an excuse not to get involved.
I noticed the Ape looks a lot like the Herculoid ape, Igoo (looked it up)
I checked based on your comment. I thought I was using yellow going into orangey. I was using green. For the millionth time.
Ha! Well, it's much more intriguing with green. A happy accident.
El, this is really fun. Love the Ape with his wrench--a new character called "Monkey Wrench" is kinda funny....
The size of Batman's head in relation to his body puts this well to the "cartoony" side on the hero-to-cartoony continuum.
Superman, that weasel....
...And doesn't the cardstock wrinkle like a mofo under yr acrylic assault?? I got bristol board buckling under a simple wash of ink.
It may be that cartoon color acrylic has that perfect ratio of water to paint. Less need for buckling H2O to get coverage. Good stuff. Ready to use after owning them 15(?) years. Took the cap off and stirred a bit. Need to get in there with a stir-stick chucked up in a drill and really get all the pigment back in the mix.
And I use a nicely loaded langnickel sable-type flat brush for all the early big fills. Let it do all its buckling at once.
The card stock is just a thickness and a half away from being bond paper. Pretty flimsy.I may buy a ream of heavier pound stock.
This will do. But a customer would be happier if it felt at least as substantial as a nice bristol board.
Your Batman has a sort of Judge Dredd-type chin.
Yes. Very cartoony.
