Great art, Tom, Marty. Fun to see those posts when I got settled in here at the house.
Just approved a couple of my own comments that I made yesterday. Appearing in the top thread. Took me a couple of beats to figure out that all I had to do to post as ME was sign into gmail.
All my system is still fairly scattered but coming together nicely in my room. Mom and Russell are happy to have me home. It's all good.
Planning on doing web comics for the hell of it. And original painting and drawings for auction on ebay for the little money I need.
Went through a very demanding ordeal to finally get here. I chronicled it in clips on my vado. I'll turn them into one long bit of continuity and you can take the trip with me.
Even though the solid ice road conditions from Arizona to New Mexico were rough, the paranoia I suffered when I hit Amarillo was worse. You'll see in a day or so.

SO GLAD to hear you made it.
I was disteressed reading your "I've burned everything" post...JMG called to tell me about it while I was buck-boarding across the wilds of Virginia in the backseat of my bro-in-law's SUV (a very dramatic way to get the news). I feared for the worst.
ut now you're ready to get down to some DRAWIN'!
Excelsior, man!
Good to see you online again Ellis! Sorry, but who is Russell Goodson?
Ellis has decided to adopt a new persona in OK... Russell is the hard partying playboy version of Ellis.
I bet the neighborhood has changed quite a bit. It's like being in a whole new city. Glad you got home. Good luck. You need to touch base with Bart Bush now that he runs the OAF con every fall. I can send you his email if you want.
Duh!!! read the post stupid!!!!! 150 dpi by tomorrow. Ugh! wish I hadn't got sick. So much still to do before my Sac trip tomorrow.
Feeling good where I'm at.
If I can figure out routing Mom's Cox internet connection to my computers, I'll have all my major stuff done. Still have to make the Imac and Cintiq work station hook ups. Not pressing but it will feel good to have that whole again.
Bart's email sounds good. I belong at an OAF convention.
I'm already sporting an Okie Car Tag. Copied Russell and got a flat top hair cut.
Biggest bummer is realizing there is no such thing as jogging in SW OKC. Of course there wasn't any jogging when I was doing it 30 years ago either. I just did it. Now I don't feel the same goofy invulnerability to redneck judgement. I'll have to come up with a hiking alternative for exercise.
Just 4 days of good sleep and good meals and I'm almost 100 percent. Still have some mashed hand spots that need a little more healing.
I'm going to turn on the minimac and start the Quicktime Pro edit on my moving chronicle. I'll give you a youtube link when I've published.
Good to hear yr positive update. Mashed hand does not sound good.
Mashed potatoes, on the other hand....
Uploading my journey videos to youtube now. This is also my first post on my mac connected via router to the cable connection at home. Now if I can just solve the cable snarl, I'm gold.
I mean this with all seriousness... those videos are remarkable accounts of not just your trip but of a person during a big transition. I think you are a natural documentary film maker!
I had a hell month that was something like your hell week... it was the August before we moved to Seattle. There were several huge things looming and causing a huge amount of stress. It all worked out for the best and it ended with a big lonely car drive from the Bay Area to Seattle.
Thanks for sharing this Ellis.
Thanks Rick. I've kept in unlisted. Maybe I should go ahead and make it public.
I just pasted it all up in the linear fashion it happened and exported it with quicktime pro.
The paranoia anxiety of Texas was the worst. Reminded me of the Bladerunner line "Quite an
experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave."
What was so scary about Texas??
(I mean, beside the obvious?)
I was positive the Highway Patrol were going to pull me over, declare my load unsafe, and have me towed and fined.
Didn't happen. But I lived through it like it did.
It's like a reverse "Grapes of Wrath."
Glad you ran the gauntlet--and survived!
Marty, I made the exact same Bizarro World John Steinbeck comment myself.
I even have it recorded in the preamble video of the clearing out. I'm not going to put that one on youtube. It looks too much like Ed Gein trying to sort out the debris of his chaotic life.
I'll never forget leasing agent's reaxn when we toured your old La Jolla Villlage Square apt.
Agent: (looking at ceiling in mild terror) "What are all those...hooks for???"
I've given up bungie cords in the overhead. The world is obviously not ready.
