The Sweatbox
I got my own copy via keepvid. I was afraid it would disappear. Looking forward to seeing it . FINALLY.
Uhoh. If you didn't see it already, that link no longer works. Disney lawyers, earning their keep. I got my copy heh heh. I'm sure it was in the wild long enough it can be found without much effort
Thanks to Benjamin, there is now a new Vimeo link

Awesome! I'm 3rd of the way through and I had my first Ranjo sighting.
Done! Glad I finally got to see it. It confirmed more or less what I had sort of gleaned had happened with the film. I think there was too much of Sting rubbing his head while concentrating on the act of creation.
I have even more respect for Roger after seeing this... truly a hard working, dedicated gentleman. Also, more respect for Ranjo as a chair relay competitor.
I'm going to watch it tonight on my big TV. Glad I thought of my raterix youtube gimmick before I watched it straight on my computer monitor. As soon as I'm done watching episode 15 of Breaking Bad season 1. What a great show.
Hey. Fascinating but also a bit of a let down. It was too hard to see for too long to possibly live up to my expectations.
A part of it is that everyone is only shown when they are feeling civilized making civilized comments.
Everyone is always just saying "oh well, but we just have to soldier on."
Jeff popping up at the 2:05 point was fun. Actually 1:05. That annoying timecode bar begins at 1:00 and sticks up through the entire film.
Anyway. It does its job of showing what a miracle it is that anything done by committee in this fashion ever gets done.
Haven't watched yet but looked around and this appears to be it...

Thanks Ben. I know Ben from Twitter.

Glad I saw it on youtube. Vimeo is always problematic with glitchey and buffering. I wish they'd find whatever the magic formula youtube is using and get onboard.
Finally watched it.
It was fun.
Felt really sorry that they had to redo it.
I wish I could see the original and decide for myself which was better.
So what was the big deal with the executives? Was it just that they didn't like it? What's to hide? They made a great film in what, just about a year and a half?
I think the main chickenbone that Disney chokes on, they look entirely too fallible and high handed compared to the image they would ordinarily like to project. Not grotesquely fallible or high handed, just enough that you think corporate and committee vs "magic." It's a non-approved lifting of the veil.
Yeah, they probably want people to have the image in their heads from old behind-the-scenes where a nice man explains what is going on as a smiling animator slowly draws a few frames, and then the final project is shown. It looks a lot nicer than a bunch of people going to work, being made upset by their bosses, and freaking out about deadlines, though I doubt that any of that is unusual.
