Bee Catcher Video
Tom, counterpoint to your Bee Keeper.
Ran across this on my walk.
A sticky card designed to catch and kill bees?
What's the point?
I've never heard of bees being considered such an overriding nuisance that they require culling like this.
In fact the opposite. People writing articles talking about scary declines in Bee population.
I have my "no movies for Ellis until they're on Amazon rental" reaction to Capt America and Green Lantern in the comments

Captain America had its moments. His degradation as USO guy was pure arc driven. They could have come up with something better to send him down and bring him back up. Favorite part is listening to it with RiffTrax at the same time. Typical Rifftrax joke, when Cap is chasing the assassin right after acquiring his physique and he's around the dock and boats, " They had a similar program in the Navy but it only made your forearms massively huge."
Green Lantern contrariness view. I liked it better than Capt America. His big conflict is an internal one. Hal is never going to be the fully realized person he could be, then the ring arrives and finds in him a one in a million hero. That he rises to.
I think the battles (major conflict) were skimpy. But those were done very well.
I've backed the video up twice to watch Hal blast Parallax while he gives out the oath.
Any fan sacrilege that occurs to the character occurs without my keen awareness. Green Lantern was a really well drawn character with an Eskimo sidekick when I was 12. I remember that Eskimos were good jet mechanics because their culture supposedly had less symmetry in their art. Likely an instance of being fed bullshit by the media at a very early age.
Green Lantern, Lord of the Rings. Parallax is Sauron. Hal is Frodo.
I think Green Lantern and Thor are the films that ought to be compared to each other... both are stories about a childish, spoiled guy who has a great power that he needs to learn how to use responsibly. The difference between the 2 is that Thor is born with his power and it makes him a jerk... he is humbled by losing the power. Hal is humbled by the power that he suddenly finds himself owning.
Been without internet for 3 days.
I'll have to see Thor eventually. I have a feeling it will be netflix straming in a month or so. So I'll save the 4 bucks.
Captain America felt like it went through tremendous rewrites or some kind of dilution process. I just never could get too invested in the movie, not for a lack of trying on my part. No one character or moment was offensively bad and I liked all the actors, but I kept waiting for a moment to really connect with the movie and that never happened. Maybe a second viewing would help. I like Chris Evans as Cap. I think The Avengers will be good. Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will inject some charisma into the proceedings, hopefully.
Still haven't watched GL. Since my PS3 croaked last spring, I have been without a reliable DVD player. I have heard mixed, but what I saw in trailers looked interesting to me.
