Finally learning Maya. Yea Me!

For the last few weeks I've been taking classes from a place called the Pixleyard here in SD.
It's run by a few guys who work over at Bottlerocket Games during the day and teach 3d several nights a week.
The bookshelf was my first project on the first week. Now I've been working on the temple scene. Not bad I guess for only 3 weeks.

Hey, great stuff Jim! Are you planning on using this new skill on your current job, or looking for a different job as a modeler at a games company?

Possibly a game company...who knows, I hope so. I've still got lots to learn. I'm only in the fundamentals stage at this time. Hard part is the damn tools. They are all over the place + the 3 mouse click usage. Drives me crazy at this point but i'll get use to it in time.

Cool! Thanks for sharing!

So, let's see some textures on those puppies!

Going into textures next week. But probably won't apply any until the model is finished. 1 step at a time.

You're doing fine! And textures are overrated ... these look like something from the heyday of vector based vidgames ... Star Castle anyone? ... ;-)

Very good KZ. You've done a prop and a Level. The terrain of rock leading up to the tabletop castle shaped up nice

KZ gets the proactive award. He finally stepped off veered into some 3D learning.
