I think it's who Kirby had in mind.
His art is absolutely at its peak with that strip that Marty linked to in the
comments to his 60s model sketch.
HEY
-Weezner alert!
I just approved a comment of his. Should be related to the previous Vectorman discussion.

You don't suppose that Kirby took Durward's last name for his own do you? Durwood to his friends.
I can't work this blogger thing too could so I can't add the photo, but google Jim Jensen channel 2 news and see if you see Reed Richards. He became a local anchor in 1964, but could have been seen earlier.
Too good
On the nose Reed Richards. He exudes super genius
Durward Kirby would also make a good Reed Richards.
The evil scientist from the movie Konga, who in old age became Tim Burton's Alfred, looks like RR from the first 3 issues of FF, pipe and all.
Michael Gough.
He played that mad scientist to perfection. Gets right in Konga's face and screaming his lines of how pleased he is with Konga's work.
KONGA!
This post is great--crazy how similar the guy looks to Kirby's character....
Glad you dug "Nasty Little Man." Great sloppy/sinister art all thru-out. Can easily see the story as the basis for a movie.
Cool that Weeze-wood posted! I suspect he's got some V-man insights. Love to read a BlueSky history--hope it happens some day....
