The Perfect Look for "Li'l Okie Ellis" or "The Teen Ellis"
See Marty! This style would work just fine. Ellis, wouldn't you like to see your life immortalized forever in artwork like this (minus a lot of the fleshier parts)?
It doesn't hurt that some of them had a Frazetta helping hand here and there.
I saw Harvey Kurtzman touring with Burne Hogarth and Gil Kane. Giving lectures on art to the aspiring comic book artist. In Dallas I believe.
Kurtzman said he brought Little Annie Fanny up from a series of tracings involving 10 or more refined variations. That seemed insane to me. But I always found that highly polished comic work fascinating.
These are so great...YES on the Friz love, but let's not forget Mr. Jack Davis contributed a lot to these, too! Tho' fer sure nobody could do the dames like Frazetta.
"And Marty could pull this off. Easily." (Italics mine).
Oh, Ellis...if only.
Tommy, yr enthusiasm is a great support. I would love to do something like this, but I wonder if I could finish even one book IN A SINGLE LIFETIME.
On a similar subject, any of you seen the recent "Fifth Beatlye" graphic novel that's getting a big rollout. Lots of copies at Barnes & Noble. Very high level of art. Haven't read it, tho'.

Top panel probably has two Frazetta figures. Upper left and lower right females.
And Marty could pull something off as well as this. Easily. Kurtzman was barely above stick figure level. It's why he did so much tracing,
Fantastic cartoon. Love it!

I can see that Jack Davis. Very clearly. I wonder what the heck Kurtzman did? Lay out?
Just checked out the Fifth Beatle on Amazon.
Kyle Baker is great. They have about 30 pages in the preview mode. Some great sketch-process stuff. Too bad you can't right click save it
