Final Entry Posted on Carly Simon's Web Site
Here is the official entry, on Carly Simon's Site, but also on YouTube as a mirror post (or whatever they call it).
Have a look; tell me what you think. This is not a popularity contest so no one HAS to check it out, but I like sharing this kind of stuff and posts like this are the easiest way.

Inventive and charming! Nice work!
Amazing. Do you assemble the whole project in after effects with the elements that will eventually composite, ot do you do bits and pieces of the compositing and then dovetail those renderings into a final edit.
Because my other question if it's all pieces waiting for a render, how low does that take to render?
Dig the UPA animation use. Is the cute girl animation from Dobie Gillis?
I like the song remix. Is that what Carly Simon looks like today. I know someone else that's pretty vain if that's today's Carly Simon.
I assembled the material piecemeal, looked up clips off of the following archive, then chopping them up, placing them, scaling them, etc.
I had a whole other set of clips that went in the section that has all the objects being "given away," but it was much less effective. So I took my Flip HD camera and filmed myself adding objects into the scene, then went into After Effects to edit out my arm. The resulting footage was then sped up to match the section it was supposed to fit. I added in the graph and text to finish and had it all parented to the original stop motion clip for entering and exiting the scene. Fun fun fun, but some time commit, too. The finished video took about six to seven hours to render out.
The cute girl sequence comes from a Pepsodent toothpaste commercial; I added the gel color and shifted it at the end to liven it up a little. Glad you liked it, Ellis and Rick.
Ah, here is a link to the Prelinger Archives ... great source of public domain video: http://www.archive.org/details/OurShrin1946
This takes you to a clip I found, and you can use the keyword entry window to search your own materials.
Looks like a great resource . Very cool. Thanks.
I knew the rendering would take longer than my patience would last. I would be sure my computer was broke. That's the sad reality of compositing film work.No instant gratification. I guess aftereffects will do quick previews.
Anyone who wants to give my video a comment on facebook should go to the wall on Carly Simon's Facebook page. If you're already a member, it's easy, so why not? ... ;-)
